“Coming here as a fairly experienced Midwestern gardener, I was a totally with out knowledge and skill relevant to desert gardening. Greg’s workshop gave me hope that with help, I could enjoy my gardening hobby here, too. He’s such a good teacher, and an advocate for making the most of the plants that do best in this environment. I really appreciated your helping us focus on landscape changes that fit with the time we spend here in Arizona, in the winter. The placement of plants and shrubs is very pleasing, and even in our small garden, there is contrast in texture that is attractive even when the plants aren’t in bloom. I learned that less is best, when the choices are made thoughtfully and in keeping with the environment. I always felt we were working in cooperation, but when I was “muddling around” he always came through with just the plan I would have made if I knew what it was I wanted!”

“Greg Corman has been a part of our Gardens and Gardening programming here at Tohono Chul Park for more than five years. As an instructor, Greg’s ability to engage an audience is amazing. His plant knowledge is vast, and his creativity and vision in experimenting with new approaches to landscape design is definitely cutting edge. Greg has always been easy to work with, receptive to suggestions and willing to meet the challenge of developing custom classes.”

“Working with Greg was so much fun! Aside from coming up with his own really imaginative, ecologically sound, and playful landscapes, he listened to my ideas too so that the project became totally collaborative. And, guess what? He shows up when he says he’ll be there!!”

“After spending thousands of dollars on landscaping that did not work for us, we finally met Greg. Greg has an incredible understanding and passion for the desert, desert landscapes and architecture. He has provided for us an outdoor paradise that is so much fun and we absolutely love. It elicits oohs and ahhs from everyone who visits. The best compliments, though, are from the hummingbirds and butterflies who are regular visitors. We are inspired by Greg’s creativity and attention to detail and look forward to many more exciting adventures together.”

“We first met Greg when he was lecturing at one of the Tucson Botanical Garden’s lecture series. His knowledge was impressive, his openness to questions more so, and his willingness to share information most helpful. Shortly thereafter we asked Greg to help us with the design, procurement and installation of landscaping for our new home situated on a bladed lot. The outcome has exceeded our expectations. The plantings are very largely maintenance-free, but imaginative, with structure and color that complement one another. He has been a patient tutor to guide us in our transition from English country gardens to desert landscaping. It has been enjoyable and educational, and we have no reservations about recommending him to others.”

“I chose Gardening Insights on the recommendation of a docent at Tohono Chul Park. I would be happy to choose Gardening Insights again for future projects. Greg Corman made me feel supported and cared for during the design process. His services met and exceeded my expectations. Together we planned a design for my new house that overcame an ugly, bare, rectangular tract home backyard. Curvilinear lines and soft plantings improved the appearance of the space tremendously, while providing me with wonderful color, lots of birds and butterflies and a wonderful vegetable garden with high quality soil. I learned how to work together with a landscape designer to achieve my goal of an attractive, shady, easy care backyard of drought tolerant plants with space for a garden and storage. Greg has provided on-going follow up support as needed.”

“We wanted a garden design that is aesthetically pleasing, enhances the outside of our new home and reflects the Tucson desert environment regarding low water usage and plant selection. Greg Corman from Gardening Insights (created) a design that met all of these criteria. Greg’s vast knowledge of desert plants has allowed the landscape design to encompass a wide variety of interesting and out of the ordinary plants that nicely complement each other and are well suited for our garden space. Furthermore, watering needs are indeed minimal and have hardly added any cost to our monthly water bill. We are delighted and highly satisfied with our new garden and feel fortunate to have found such a good designer in Greg.”
